Boza Creamery Branding
-
Boza Creamery is a small-batch artisanal ice cream maker in new Jersey. I started working with them through my coffee roasting passion project at Wellborn Coffee. Boza Creamery has a fascinating origin story that has to do with a firehouse, Turkish ice cream, and a very skilled craftsman who put it all together.

Amer Alnatur, the owner of Boza Creamery, started making ice cream out of the firehouse where he worked in Patterson, New Jersey. After years of honing his craft, he took his project public and needed a name. His inspiration combined booza, an Eastern Mediterranean stretchy ice cream made with mastic and sahlab (orchid flour), and an homage to his mother, whose name started with a “B.”

Working with metaphors for the personal references, we landed on a script that would signify the hand-made character of the ice cream, a nod to its stretchy forebear and key in the letter B as a signature for his family’s matriarch. Once we had the logo, we created the website, business cards, brand guidelines, signage, and interior brand activation.
