Death Head

Operation Cornflakes (1944-1945) was a World War II Office of Strategic Services (OSS) Morale Operation (MO). An operation that involved tricking the German postal service, Deutsche Reichspost, into inadvertently delivering anti-Nazi propaganda to German citizens through mail. The OSS forged a stamp of Hitler with a skull overlay that resembles a portion of Hitler’s jaw having been "eaten away" and the German subscript at the bottom of the stamp altered reading "Reich shot to hell". These stamps were known as the "Death Head."  #design #philately #futschesreich #stamps #illustration
